What is Early Decision and Early Action???
Some students are certain that there is one school that they want to attend over all the others.
If this is you, you can consider Early Decision or Early Action.
EARLY DECISION
Under this plan, a student can apply to ONE participating college or university.
These applications are due in EARLY NOVEMBER.
Decisions are mailed out by MID DECEMBER.
If accepted, the student is bound by contractual agreement to attend this college.
*It is assumed that early decision candidates have an edge for acceptance; however, this option hampers a financial aid package comparison. Only families that believe that they can afford, or feel their financial need will be met, should utilize Early Decision.**
EARLY ACTION
This plan is similar to Early Decision in that there is an early application deadline and an early notification date.
HOWEVER, Early Decision is NOT a binding agreement. You may still wait to hear from other colleges.
Early Action does not seem to have the same acceptance advantages that Early Decision may have.
Most schools only want you to apply to one Early Action program.
